Your complete guide to streaming during CrashPad4Kids

This handbook outlines rules, requirements, stream setup, important links, and more

Important Rules

When fundraising for Make-A-Wish, you are representing and affiliating yourself with a global children’s charity. Therefore, we kindly ask that you follow a few rules:

  1. Do not stream games with crude or inappropriate content and/or an ESRB rating of “Adults Only.” The following are examples of games that are prohibited from Make-A-Wish charity streams:
    • Grand Theft Auto V
    • Manhunt
    • Conker’s Bad Fur Day
    • Mortal Kombat
    • All games listed at Twitch Banned Games
  2. Do not use excessive explicit language or visuals that are profane, sexual or bigoted in nature, or illicit substances or paraphernalia. Also, do not become intoxicated before or during the stream.
  3. Do not engage in personal attacks or behave in a harassing or bullying manner during your stream. Keep all communications kind, positive and friendly.
  4. Stream safely. Please, stay hydrated and remember to eat during your stream. Take breaks and get plenty of rest before, during and after your stream.

TL;DR: Keep it family friendly

Your Stream Requirements

There are a few things for you to set up in order to stream for this event

Required to be eligible for the Creator and Grand Prize Giveaways:

  1. While streaming for CrashPad4Kids, you MUST have "CrashPad4Kids" in your stream title. You can alternatively use the hashtag "#CrashPad4Kids"
  2. You MUST use one of the official overlays below. There are ones with alerts baked in for the general campaign (Simple Overlay & Alerts) and ones without alerts so you can add your own if you choose (Custom Overlay & Alerts)
  3. You MUST stream for at least 2 hours between Monday, November 17th @ 10:00 Pacific and Sunday, November 23rd @ 18:00 Pacific

Not required to be eligible for the giveaways, but strongly recommended:

  1. Set up a !donate command that drops a donation link in chat. It can be to your own custom supporting campaign or the general campaign (links at the bottom of this page)
  2. Have a call to action for !donate on your overlay, in your stream title, etc so people know that's how to have the link show up in chat
  3. Pin the donation link in your chat
  4. Use one of the premade (or make your own) Twitch panels so when someone checks out your channel, they can click it to go to the donation page
  5. When you end your stream, try to find someone else who is streaming for CrashPad4Kids and raid them. During the event, everyone who is live will be featured on the CrashPad4Kids homepage, so you can check there to see who to raid
  6. Discourage cheering on your channel during the event and instead direct people to donate. We understand that this may be your livelihood, so only do so if you can afford to. If you would like to automatically discourage cheering, you can set your minimum bit donation amount to something really high for this event.
  7. Create your own incentives for your show. Encourage your community to help you reach fundraising milestones and "reward" them for each milestone is met. Examples of this are eating spicy food, putting on multiple shirts/hats, singing/dancing, etc. Whatever you decide to do, please be sure it is safe both mentally and physically, does not violate your platform's ToS, and does not break any rules laid out above. Remember: your community loves you, but they also love to torment you in a fun way and if they can do that while donating to a good cause, that's a win-win.

Setting up Your Overlay and Alerts

We have refined our overlays over the years to make them as simple as possible to use and set up.

There are 2 ways to set up this event: the Simple Overlay & Alerts and the Custom Overlay & Alerts.

The Simple Overlay & Alerts only takes a couple minutes to set up, but it ties to the main campaign so you can't do custom alerts or custom integrations. You give up customization for simplicity and ease of setup. This is great for people who have limited time or who are just learning to set up for events like this.

The Custom Overlay & Alerts is for people who want to be able to customize the alerts, integrate those alerts into their bot, and/or set their own campaign milestones, but does require more time and some basic knowledge of how Tiltify supporting campaigns work.

There is also a custom Sponsor Ad Player browser source that we strongly encourage you use during things like your Be Right Back scene, Starting Soon scene, or any other scene where the viewers are waiting and there isn't really anything happening on screen.

Simple Overlay & Alerts

The entire overlay, inluding built-in alerts, is already made for you with 2 design options, all you have to do is add one of them as a browser source in your streaming software and you're ready to stream!

You can choose either the Top Bar overlay or the Bottom Bar overlay depending on how your stream is already setup. The idea is to add this overlay over top of your exisitng stream so you don't have to change anything, you only have to add 1 single browser source.

STEP 1: Right click on one of the buttons below (Top Bar or Bottom Bar) and select "Copy link address"

STEP 2: Create a Browser Source in any scenes where you want to have the overlay (ideally in all scenes during your charity stream) and paste the address in the URL box.

STEP 3: Set the Browser Source width to 1920 and set the Browser Source height to 1080.

STEP 4: Click OK

STEP 5: Resize the Browser Source as needed to fit your scene

That's it - you're done and ready to stream!

NOTE: This overlay will show alerts for all general donations from multiple streams, so not all alerts may be from your viewers, they may be from another concurrent stream. If you want to only show alerts from your own stream, you need to use the Custom Method in the next section

Custom Overlay & Alerts

This method will allow to you make your own custom alerts via a Tiltify Supporting Campaign and also track donations that are made through your donation link, making it so you know if a donation is from one of your viewers instead of from someone else's stream. You can also use bots and software like Firebot, Aitum, and Streamer.bot to do custom things on your stream when donations are made to your supporting campaign.

Even though you can add your own custom alerts, you must still use one of the overlays below which shows sponsors and overally progress of the entire event.

STEP 1: Create a supporting campaign by going to https://start.tiltify.com/?supportingFactId=5039bed9-c7b0-4752-a55f-44b521ec41cf

STEP 2: Create your own alerts in Tiltify by going to the Branding section of your Supporting Campaign, then Overlays, then create a new overlay how you like and add that as a browser source to your streaming software OR link your Supporting Campaign to your bot to activate custom interactions on your stream.

STEP 3: Right click on one of the buttons below (Top Bar or Bottom Bar) and select "Copy link address"

STEP 4: Create a Browser Source in any scenes where you want to have the overlay (ideally in all scenes during your charity stream) and paste the address in the URL box.

STEP 5: Set the Browser Source width to 1920 and set the Browser Source height to 1080.

STEP 6: Click OK

STEP 7: Resize the Browser Source as needed to fit your scene

Sponsor Ad Player

Yeah, we all hate ads, but the amazing sponsors this year are providing so much and we want to show our appreciation.

The Sponsor Ad Player is not automatic - you decide when you want to play it. Its a simple browser source you can add to any scene and turn on and off as you see fit. The best place to add it may be on your Be Right Back scene. You are not required to add this to your stream, but it is strongly recommended.

STEP 1: Right click on the button below and select "Copy link address"

STEP 2: Create a Browser Source in any scenes where you want to have the Sponsor Ad Player and paste the address in the URL box. NOTE: This browser source should be UNDER your CrashPad4Kids overlay browser source.

STEP 3: Set the Browser Source width to 1920 and set the Browser Source height to 1080.

STEP 4: Check the "Shutdown source when not visible" box

STEP 5: Check the "Refresh browser source when scene becomes active" box

STEP 6: Click OK

STEP 7: Resize the Browser Source as needed to fit your scene

IMPORTANT: If the volume is too loud, you can change it by changing the URL. Just change the volume=100 (default, volume 100%) part in the URL to a lower number until you find a volume you like. Example: volume=50 sets the volume of the ad player to 50%

  • Invite other streamers to join! They can register and join all the way up until 12pm Pacfic on Sunday.
